Condemning the Arrest and Detention of Women in Herat Province on the Pretext of Non-Compliance with the Dress Code Imposed by the De Facto Authorities

The Afghanistan Independent bar Association in Exile expresses its profound concern regarding reports of the arrest and detention of a number of women in the city of Herat by officials of the Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice under the de facto authorities. The Association considers such actions a clear violation of human dignity, fundamental freedoms, and the basic rights of women.
