Statement of the Afghanistan Independent Bar Association in Exile Condemning the Tragedy of Self-Immolation by “Abida,” a Victim of Systematic Violence and Discrimination
With deep sorrow and regret, the Afghanistan Independent Bar Association in Exile strongly condemns the heartbreaking tragedy of the self-immolation of Abida,” a young woman from the village of Darzab Nili, Taywara District, Ghor Province. According to reliable reports, Abida was forced into marriage with a member of the Taliban. Under pressure, violence, and the inability to escape, she resorted to self-immolation and lost her life.
